Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide) is a once-daily pill; steps from the FDA label. Dates are the minimum spacing in the label, laid on a calendar, not a recommendation to step up. Your prescriber sets the pace, and a step can be delayed or held at any dose, for example while side effects settle.

Your start date

The day you took (or will take) your first 1.5 mg dose. The calendar shows the earliest date each step could begin, counting the minimum days the label requires at each dose.

Quick answer: Take it in the morning on an empty stomach with up to 4 ounces of plain water, and wait 30 minutes before eating or drinking. A missed tablet is skipped, not doubled: take the next one the following day. If 25 mg is not tolerated, the label suggests switching to the 1.7 mg Wegovy injection.

Educational summary of the FDA label, not medical advice. The label sets the minimum time at each step; your prescriber sets your actual schedule, which can be slower at any point. Never change a dose or step up on your own.

What does the Wegovy pill label say about missed doses and how to take it?

If a Wegovy tablet is missed, the label says to skip that dose and take the next one the following day.

Take one tablet a day in the morning on an empty stomach, swallowed whole with up to 4 ounces of plain water, then wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking, or taking other oral medicines.

If a step is not tolerated, the label says to consider delaying the next one. If 25 mg is not tolerated, it suggests switching to the 1.7 mg Wegovy injection once weekly.

Strengths. Tablets in 1.5 mg, 4 mg, 9 mg, and 25 mg.

Is the Wegovy pill dose the same as the injection?

No. Both are semaglutide, but only a small fraction of a swallowed tablet is absorbed, so the daily tablet doses are far larger: 25 mg a day by mouth against 2.4 mg a week by injection.

The label sets out how to switch: start 25 mg tablets one week after the last 2.4 mg injection, or start the 2.4 mg injection the day after the last 25 mg tablet. The Wegovy injection dosage chart has the weekly schedule.

FAQ

How long do you take 1.5 mg of the Wegovy pill?

30 days, per the label. 1.5 mg is the starting dose; the label then moves to 4 mg on day 31 and 9 mg on day 61.

When do you reach 25 mg of the Wegovy pill?

Day 91 at the label's minimum pace, after 30 days each at 1.5, 4, and 9 mg. If a step is not tolerated, the label says to consider delaying the next one.

What if you miss a Wegovy pill?

Are the dates in the planner a recommendation to step up?

No. They are the minimum spacing the label requires between steps, laid on a calendar from your first dose date. The label sets a floor, not a schedule: your prescriber decides whether and when you move up, and staying longer at any dose is allowed.
